5 Things We Love About the Panasonic Lumix GH5!

This week, Panasonic tech rep Jack Salamanchuk visited our Cleveland and Cincinnati stores for in store training and a Panasonic Lumix GH5 Launch Event! Our store staff had the opportunity to get their hands on the GH5 and learn about some of the exciting new features that this camera offers. We put together a list of 5 things that we love about Panasonic's Lumix GH5 for anyone that wasn't able to make it to the event!

5 Things We Love About the Panasonic Lumix GH5

10 Bit Color:

The Panasonic Lumix GH5 offers 10-Bit color in video recording mode. This is huge because most cameras today only offer 8-Bit color video recording. The addition of 10-Bit color means that you can capture many more shades of color in your video compared to what 8-Bit recording can offer. To put it simply, 8-Bit recording captures 16,777,216 different colors. 10-Bit color offers you the ability to capture over a billion different colors, or 64 times the number that 8-Bit allows.

Dual I.S. Image Stabilization:

We did a live comparison between the GH4's image stabilization and the Panasonic GH5's Dual I.S. Image Stabilization and were blown away! There is a night and day difference between the two, and the Dual I.S. system allows you to create ultra smooth handheld video without the use of gimbals or any other stabilizer. Panasonic's Dual I.S. image stabilization is incredible.

Expandability

Panasonic has created several accessories to expand the capabilities of the GH5. The two must have accessories are the XLR  Audio Adaptor and the V-Log L Firmware Upgrade Kit.

The XLR Audio Adapter is a must have for anyone looking to produce professional level video with their GH5. It offers two XLR audio inputs with an output of up to 96 kHz at 24 bits. The adapter is powered by the camera through the hot shoe, and has a built in pre-amp.

The V-Log L Firmware Upgrade Kit is another must have for anyone looking to produce professional level video with the GH5. This expansion provides the ability to capture 12 stops of dynamic range for better highlight and shadow details in your video. Please note: utilizing this accessory will provide video that requires color grading and other professional level file handling.

2 Card Slots

A first for the Lumix G Series cameras, Panasonic has added a second card slot to the GH5. You can utilize the second card slot in multiple ways including; backup, overflow, and RAW + JPeg.

Unlimited Record Time

Gone are the days where you have to re-start recording every 15-30 minutes! The Panasonic GH5 allows you to record until your card is full or the camera battery dies. This means that you can record a full wedding ceremony or event from beginning to end without missing any moments!
