Panasonic GX-85

Panasonic is pushing the limits of what is considered standard for DSLR/Mirrorless cameras. With the Panasonic Lumix GX-85, Panasonic has added more innovative features such as Post Focus, 4K Photo Burst, 5-axis dual image stabilization (both in lens and in body stabilization), as well as many other features that help push Panasonic Lumix cameras to the forefront in terms of innovation.

Panasonic gave us the opportunity to test out the GX-85. After several weeks with the camera, we thought it was time to share our top three favorite features!

Image Quality:

First, and most important, the Panasonic Lumix GX-85 impressed us with the image quality that it was providing straight out of camera. The JPEG files that it produced were extremely sharp and provided pleasing color reproduction. This made it extremely easy to quickly share the photos that we took and reduced editing time. In fact, we very rarely found it necessary to work with Panasonic's RAW files.

Physical Size:

Hands down, our favorite thing about the camera is it's physical size. We took it with us to lunch during the RNC in Cleveland and found it extremely easy to carry while walking the 30 blocks downtown. That walk would have been a different experience with a larger DSLR.

Not only is the Panasonic Lumix GX-85 smaller in size, it is also significantly lighter. Even with a long zoom lens, the camera remains compact and lightweight due to Panasonic's compact Micro 4/3 lens lineup.

4K Photo Burst:

During a short day trip to Louisville, we had the opportunity to shoot on the floor of a working glass blowing studio (A huge thank you and shoutout to Flame Run in Louisville). Panasonic's 4K Photo Burst helped us capture the action and movement in the workshop by taking short 4K videos instead of photos. Pulling a still image from that short video is as easy as a few taps on the screen when reviewing your shots on the built in touchscreen LCD.
