Ricoh GR IV HDF Digital Camera
The Ricoh GR IV HDF redefines the iconic “snap shooter” with a distinctive creative edge. Built for photographers who crave speed, portability, and expressive image character, this special edition introduces a built-in Highlight Diffusion Filter (HDF) that softens highlights for a mellow, atmospheric look. The result is a subtle glow and dreamlike rendering that adds emotion and nostalgia straight out of camera—perfect for street, travel, and everyday storytelling.
Replacing the traditional ND filter found in the standard GR IV, the HDF can be instantly toggled on or off using a dedicated control, giving you complete freedom to switch between crisp realism and diffused expression in the moment. A unique silver shutter release further sets this model apart visually while preserving the minimalist GR design.
At the core is a newly developed 25.7MP APS-C BSI CMOS sensor paired with the GR ENGINE 7 processor. This powerful combination delivers cleaner files, improved dynamic range, and up to one stop better low-light performance, along with faster startup times, quicker operation, and sensitivity up to ISO 204800. Images can be captured in both 14-bit DNG and JPEG formats for maximum flexibility in post.
Autofocus performance sees a major upgrade as well. A redesigned, lighter lens and enhanced processing provide faster, more confident focusing with improved face and eye detection, subject tracking, and reduced focus hunting—especially in low-light conditions. Ricoh’s signature Full Press Snap function remains, allowing you to instantly bypass AF and lock focus at a preset distance for zero-lag street shooting.
For handheld work, the GR IV HDF features an advanced 5-axis Shake Reduction system, compensating for up to 6 stops of camera shake—a significant improvement over previous generations and a major benefit for low-light and slow-shutter photography.
The fixed 28mm-equivalent f/2.8 lens remains central to the GR experience, offering a natural wide-angle view that excels in everyday scenarios. An all-new optical design enhances sharpness across the frame while keeping the camera compact and responsive. Built-in crop modes simulate 35mm and 50mm fields of view, and a dedicated macro mode enables close focusing down to just 2.4 inches.
Creative control is further expanded with Image Control modes, including a new Cinema look with selectable color tones, customizable parameters, and the ability to save personalized presets. Advanced shooting options such as ultra-fast 1/16,000 sec electronic shutter, multiple metering modes, in-camera multi-exposure, and Full HD video recording round out its versatility.
Despite its expanded capabilities, the GR IV HDF remains impressively compact. A refined body design improves grip while maintaining the durable magnesium alloy construction. A new high-capacity battery extends shooting life to approximately 250 shots per charge, while 53GB of internal memory, a microSD card slot, and USB-C charging and data transfer ensure seamless everyday use.
Fast, expressive, and unmistakably GR, the Ricoh GR IV HDF is built for photographers who want speed without sacrificing mood—and precision with personality.
